WHAT TO EXPECT:
Includes 4 driving road trips to the Big Island’s best attractions, viewpoints and stories. Most visitors stay and start the tours in Kohala, Kailua Kona or Hilo.

Includes all 4 driving routes;

Kohala North Route (allow 1/2 day)
If you only have a half day, travel to the North end of the island. View the beautiful Kohala beaches and resort areas of Waikoloa and Mauni Lani. Continue on and enjoy the laidback charm of Hawi. On the return drive, you’ll discover Hawaii’s wild wild west and the Paniolo (Hawaiian cowboys) around the rural and ranching areas of Waimea before connecting back to the coast.

South Kona & Coffee Coast Route (allow 1/2 day)
Pack your swimsuit and snorkeling gear for another half day itinerary, this time driving South of Kona. Coffee has been grown around the world, but some of the most highly prized beans come from the upland slopes around Kona. After this jolt, you may want to connect with some of Hawaii’s significant cultural sites, the sanctuary at the Place of Refuge and at Kealakekua Bay.

Volcanoes National Park Route (allow full day)
Allow a full day and head to the most active volcano on the planet. On our travels to Volcanoes National Park it’s a perfect time to review the volcanic forces at work behind the creation of the Hawaiian Islands, or you may prefer to embrace the Hawaiian legends version.

Big Island Circle Route (allow full day)
For the true adventurers, a full Island Circle itinerary adds touring to the green or East side of the Island. From the panoramic views along the Hamakua Coast and the 442ft Akaka Falls State Park to peeks into the lush Waipio Valley. Plan for time in and around Hilo with it’s Liliuokalani Gardens, nearby waterfalls and lava tube caves. (Don’t try to include Volcanoes National Park to this day, it just isn’t viable timewise).

BATTERY USAGE:
++ Continued use of GPS/Location Services in the background increases battery usage. We strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. Avoid using a direct connection to the USB port of a rental vehicle.

IPADS:
** iPad models must include a GPS chip. Please note that Apple only install these on the iPad Wifi + Cellular models. Wifi only iPad models have limited location service capabilities and are unable to play commentary automatically.

DOWNLOADING:
The apps are larger in size in order to work offline. You must be on wifi to download as the store may block the download over cellular networks.

Just the right amount of audio to be informative and interesting without every being annoying. Had some trouble with the rental car Bluetooth interface but finally figured out there was a conflict between the BT and plugging the phone into the stereo USB port which wants to control the phone. Resolved this by plugging the phone into the rear seat USB for power only and using only BT to have the audio play through the audio system. Cant blame the app for this but this tip might be useful to others. Anyway, great addition to our vacation and highly recommended.

Great app for all visitors to Big Island! I highly recommend that everyone download and use it. You will not be disappointed! Very useful in terms of information, sights to see and providing info on the culture and history of Hawaii. This app saves visitors money by not having to go on organized tours, you can see what you want at your leisure, on your own schedule. The only gap for us is that we would like to know the name of the narrator, who became our personal tour guide.

I never review apps but this app has been so helpful as we drove around the big island. We wouldve missed so much if we didnt have this app. Weve even named the narrator Albert as my 5 year old son thinks hes the smartest. Theres so much history in this tour as well but it comes in short bursts so its not boring. Worth every penny and Ill be sure to download other locations when we go somewhere else

LOVE the guide we used - big island Hawaii. Informative, funny (NOT cheesy), eerily accurate. Make more of these. Particularly Kuai! That other one we used was painful!

We came to the big Island in Hawaii for a week and used this app to do all four tours. It was fantastic and well worth the money. Cant wait to do the Yellowstone tour. Thank you!

Some bad moments

Best app I have ever purchased! It is like having a tour guide in the backseat. So realistic I started to talk to the app. Clear concise directions. Please develop more destinations.

My family wanted to do some casual driving tours without a lot of advance planning and research. This app totally saved the day! It is GREAT! Start a route anywhere, make some changes on the fly, no problem. Our handy guide adjusts and provides all sorts of interesting and useful information along the way, automatically triggered by reaching waypoints along the route. The audio is professionally recorded and well done. This is a great value.

We really enjoyed this app on our trip to the Big Island. Lots of history and good clear directions. We traveled all over the island and this app had something to add to the experienced the whole way. Has a couple minor bugs, but it did not take away from the experience. Best 7.99 I have spent on an app.

A friend had used one of their other apps on a different island and told us we needed to purchase this for the big island. The price was way more than I would ever pay for an app without a trial, but we went for it. We learned so much from the app. You do a lot of driving on the big island and this made it so much more interesting. You learn about what you are seeing, places to stop and even history. It was worth what we paid and so much more!

We loved this app! We were able to save hundreds of dollars by Google mapping the different locations tours go on and doing it ourselves with this app as our private tour guide. I would highly recommend this app!

My wife loves maps and guided tours, so she found this app through a little research, and bought it for my Smart Phone. It gave us the most fact filled and fun tour of Hawaii. We absolutely loved it.
